QTnet recognizes the importance of private information about our customers (hereinafter referred to as ("Personal Information"). We consider that ensuring the proper protection of Personal Information is our social responsibility, and implement the following initiatives.

Concerning Protection of Personal Information in Telecommunications Businesses

1. Specification of the Purpose of Use

QTnet gathers information about customers such as their name, address and telephone number. The purpose of use of that Personal Information is to provide services, confirm the customer’s identity, bill for services, respond to inquiries, notify the customer about any changes, suspend or cancel services, provide information about products and services from QTnet or our business partners, conduct questionnaire surveys, or for a purpose that falls within the scope required to carry out other tasks contingent upon those purposes.
Please note that QTnet may record telephone conversations with our customers, in order to verify the content of their inquiry and to enhance future services.
Furthermore, QTnet may use Personal Information within the above scope of use, even after the services contract or other contracts have been terminated with the customer.

2. Restrictions on the Use of Personal Information for Other Purposes and Its Provision to Third Parties

  1. QTnet will not handle Personal Information in any way that goes beyond the purposes of use in Paragraph 1 above.
  2. QTnet will not disclose or provide a customer’s Personal Information unless the following apply.
    1. The customer has given their consent
    2. It is warranted by some other reason, such as a duty to divulge Personal Information in accordance with laws and ordinances

3. Joint Use of Personal Information

3-1. Joint Use with Business Partners

(1) Scope of Joint Use
KDDI Corporation and OKINAWA CELLULAR TELEPHONE COMPANY

(2) Purpose of Joint Use
QTnet utilizes the information listed in (3) below, but only after gaining the consent of the individual concerned, to the extent necessary to offer and provide the “au Smart Value” discount service via our business alliance with KDDI Corporation and OKINAWA CELLULAR TELEPHONE COMPANY.

(3) Items of Information for Joint Use
Information connected with the status of an application or contract, such as the customer’s name, address, telephone number, date of birth, details of the services used, the date of the application, commencement of services, or cancellation of services.

(4) Party Responsible for Management of Joint Use
QTnet is responsible for the management of the said Personal Information.

From paper media such as application forms and contracts

3-2. Joint Use with Group Companies

(1) Scope of Joint Use
Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated and Kyuden Group companies*

(2) Purpose of Joint Use
To offer and provide services provided by QTnet or Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated
To provide discounted bundled services and other benefits
To develop and improve products and services
To carry out other tasks contingent upon those purposes

(3) Items of Information for Joint Use
The information listed below is used to the extent that is necessary. (However, information that infringes privacy of correspondence is excluded.)

a. Basic information, etc.
Name, address, telephone number, date of birth, email address, numbers that identify the customer, such as contract numbers, and other information obtained as a consequence of contracts and subscriptions

b. History, etc.

  • Purchase/sales history with regard to products and services of QTnet, Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated, and Kyuden Group companies (including lease, rental, etc.)
  • Construction information and repair log (repair details, outcome, and cause of malfunction)
  • Information about a customer’s contract(s) for products and services of QTnet, Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated, and Kyuden Group companies, as well as their usage of them and bonus point data
  • Data gathered and analyzed via questionnaires and other kinds of surveys run by QTnet, Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated, and Kyuden Group companies
  • Information about a customer’s utilization of the websites of QTnet, Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated, and Kyuden Group companies
  • History of the interaction of Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated and Kyuden Group companies with the customer

QTnet is responsible for the management of the said Personal Information.

4. Notification and Announcement of the Purpose of Use When Personal Information Is Obtained

When QTnet obtains Personal Information from customers, we inform them of the purpose of use in advance and obtain the Personal Information in an appropriate manner, such as asking the customer to sign the application form by hand. We make every effort to maintain the Personal Information we obtain in an accurate and up-to-date state that complies with the purpose of use. We also officially announce the purpose of use of the Personal Information on our application forms, website, etc.

5. Appropriate Security Management Measures

QTnet strictly manages and supervises the appropriate handling of our customers’ Personal Information, for example we appoint staff in charge of the management of personal information, and ensure strict compliance with in-house regulations. We also take the necessary measures to prevent any data breaches.

6. Strict Supervision of How Employees Manage Personal Information

QTnet establishes in-house regulations with regard to the secure management of Personal Information and requires our employees to comply with those regulations. In addition, we hold regular training courses and ensure that our employees thoroughly understand the importance of Personal Information management.

7. Supervision of Contractors

QTnet may provide our customers’ Personal Information to a contractor or business partner in connection with work such as the marketing of services and information desks for them, surveys for and implementation of engineering work, and billing. In such cases, we carry out appropriate management, such as stipulating in contracts with contractors and business partners that they have an obligation to prevent any leaks of our customers’ Personal Information.

8. Disclosure, Amendment, or Suspension of Usage, Etc., of Personal Information in Our Possession

If a customer submits a request that we disclose Personal Information that we possess about them, QTnet will comply with their request after confirming their identity. We will also comply swiftly if a request is submitted for the content of the Personal Information to be amended, etc.

9. Compliance with the Relevant Laws and Ordinances

QTnet complies with the stipulations of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57, 2003), the stipulations of the Telecommunications Business Law with regard to privacy of correspondence, and other related laws and ordinances, as well as the Guidelines Concerning Protection of Personal Information in Telecommunications Businesses (announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in 2004). We are also committed to reviewing and improving initiatives based on this Policy as and when required.

10. The Accredited Personal Information Protection Organization to which QTnet Belongs

QTnet is a business entity that comes under the supervision of Zaidan Hojin Nihon Data Tsushin Kyokai (Japan Data Communications Association), an accredited personal information protection organization based on The Act on the Protection of Personal Information. Any complaints about the way QTnet handles Personal Information can be submitted for resolution to the Personal Information-ICT Center set up within the Japan Data Communications Association.
